I am a firm believer that therapy is a space where you should feel safe, known, and heard. It is my mission to begin creating this space from the moment you make an appointment and get your first email from me. I believe that the non-judgmental relationship between client and therapist can be one of the most healing relationships in our lives. Starting (or continuing) therapy can be intimidating, but I trust it can also be the first step towards meaningful growth and relief. I deeply value the authenticity and warmth that can be the result of a strong therapeutic alliance.
My style is insight-based, person-centered, and trauma-informed. I use a variety of techniques in sessions to help us both understand behavior patterns on a deeper level. Some of the theories that I pull from most often are cognitive-behavioral, existential, and constructivist. I also believe in incorporating self-compassion and self-love into how we talk about ourselves and our thoughts and struggles. I most enjoy working with college students and emerging adults but have experience working with individuals of all ages. Most of my experience involves working with trauma survivors. I find that the empathy and safety experienced in therapy can be transformative in the way that we view our past experiences and our past selves. My professional interests also include working with those experiencing difficulties adjusting to life transitions, anxiety, depression, existential dilemmas, religious trauma/Christian deconstruction, and post-traumatic stress symptoms. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming and am affirming of non-monogamous relationships.
I greatly value my education and believe that the training I have received throughout my professional career has allowed me to grow my clinical skills to provide an informed and educated therapeutic space. I am a graduate of The University of Mississippi (undergraduate degree in Social Work) and Delta State University (graduate degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling). My prior work experience includes an inpatient drug and alcohol facility, a college counseling center, and most recently a private practice.
When I am not working, I love to read fiction, listen to music, and hang out with my husband and Boston Terrier named Pinto. I enjoy skating and attempting creative projects such as cross- stitching and Lego builds. I am originally from Oxford, Mississippi, and am an avid college football fan (Hotty Toddy and Go Tigers!). I always love learning more about Memphis and taking part in the ever-growing food scene.
